Artificial Intelligence (AI) is being adopted in many industries for a variety of purposes. In telecommunications, AI is used for customer support such as chatbots for the first point of contact, and for powering expert systems to assist human agents with troubleshooting.

There is also discussion about “AI-RAN”. This concept will enhance the performance, efficiency, and capabilities of Radio Access Networks by leveraging AI technologies. While there is some work in this area now, AI-based RAN remains a future prospect.

However, there is no need to wait for AI-RAN to obtain benefits from AI in terms of network performance. There is an immediate opportunity to leverage AI for network testing.

The LAMTA solution from Acentury has two AI-enabled features that can be used today to enhance lab testing operations. The following is a screenshot of our GUI interface to help write test scripts instantly. AI scripting.png

LAMTA ScriptGen provides plain language test script creation. Powered by a custom-trained large language model (LLM), LAMTA can turn simple instructions into complex end-to-end test scripts involving multiple pieces of testing equipment from different vendors. There's no need to have specialized software skills to build test cases.

LAMTA LogEval provides AI-powered test log analysis. Based on the commands in the test script, LAMTA automatically determines the appropriate success criteria for the test case and derives the pass/fail status in the test report. The tester no longer needs to manually review megabytes of log data looking for test results, saving significant time.

LAMTA has been designed by network engineers to make end-to-end (E2E) testing easy. These two features are practical use cases for AI that are available now.
